Sex Abuse Lawsuit Filed Against S. Fla. Hospital

BOYNTON BEACH (CBSMiami) – A South Florida hospital is the target of a sex abuse lawsuit filed by a woman who claims she was sexually assaulted by a nurse.

The woman, who is identified as 'Jane Doe', unveiled her lawsuit with her attorney at the hospital Thursday afternoon.

The 28-year-old woman says she suffers from a digestive disorder that causes her to have uncontrollable nausea and vomiting and often requires hospitalizations to remedy dehydration. She says she went to the hospital on September 8th for treatment.

During that stay, she claims a male nurse touched her breasts and stomach in a sexual manner.

The woman says she sprang out of her bed and reported the incident to the nurse's station.

Boynton Beach Police were called and came to the hospital to investigate the claim.

"I am concerned this is not the first time this nurse violated patients, and I'm convinced if not stopped he will do this to someone else," said the woman.

The hospital told us they cannot comment on litigation and it is unclear whether the male nurse continues to work at the facility.

He has not been arrested.

Boynton Beach police say the male nurse denied all the allegations and the matter was turned over to the State Attorney's Office.

There was no surveillance video of the alleged incident.

The woman's attorney says the fact she reported the alleged attack immediately adds credence to her story.

"Of course the anxiety and trauma of it is horrible," said attorney Jeff Herman. "She wants to protect other women and to bring a voice to what she's going through."
