Immigrants Honored In Art Basel Week Installation
MIAMI BEACH (CBS4/ AP) — Art Basel will soon be over come Sunday, but local activists are getting a bit of the spotlight this week during Art Basel.
Art Basel's Public Art Series at Collins Park in Miami Beach features an installation highlighting the work of local groups such as the Florida Immigrant Coalition, Youth Pridelines and the Miami Workers Center.
The installation by artists Olga Koumoundouros and Andrea Bowers features the organization's work on behalf of immigrants, gay youth and low-wage workers. It is part of a series of art pieces the artists have produced in various cities, honoring local community groups.
Saturday night, Phoenix artist and activist Ernesto Yereno will take part in a "live art" party at the installation entitled ARTivism Basel open to the public.
