Medley Officer Assault Spawns Chase And Crash In Hialeah

HIALEAH (CBSMiami) - Police are looking for the several suspects who assaulted a Medley officer before giving chase and crashing into a car full of children.

Police say the suspects assaulted a Medley Police officer and fled the scene in a car.  The car was chased by Medley police which crossed into Hialeah city limits.

Hialeah Police officers assisted in the chase, which came to a crashing end at Northwest 79th Street and 21st Avenue after the suspect's car collided with a car carrying seven children.

A man, who did not want to be identified, told CBS4's Maggie Newland that his sister was in the car.

"They had little kids in the car and everything...my nieces and nephews...but they're okay. Nobody's hurt but my sister," he said.

The suspects bailed out of the car after the crash. Police set up a perimeter surrounding the scene but have not located the suspects.
