Ex-Canes NFL Touchdown Streak In Jeopardy

MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – The University of Miami Hurricanes won't be going bowling this season and another streak featuring ex-Canes may also end Monday night.

A former Miami Hurricanes player has scored a touchdown in the NFL for the last 149 consecutive weeks.

But, that streak may end Monday as the only hope left is from defensive linemen Allen Bailey and Vince Wilfork.

Interestingly, Kellen Winslow, Jr. did catch a touchdown pass for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sunday. But, the touchdown was wiped out after he was called for offensive pass interference against former Cane Sam Shields.

The streak's end may mark another ending as well. The U dominated the NFL for the better part of two decades, but as the school's coaching and talent level has gone down, so have the number of ex-Canes in the NFL.

Still, the U is well represented in the NFL with players like: Ray Lewis, Andre Johnson, Frank Gore, Jimmy Graham, Devin Hester, and many others.
