Miracle On 136th St. Parade To Herald Holiday Season

SOUTH MIAMI-DADE (CBSMiami) -- The holiday season doesn't officially start without a parade, and Saturday, thousands will be on hand in South Miami-Dade to watch the 15th annual 'Miracle on 136th Street Parade' march into to the Falls shopping center at 4:00 p.m.

See local marching bands, bag pipers, stilt walkers, a junkanoo band, mariachi bands, Brazilian dancers, vintage cars, a Dixieland Band, internationally recognized costume characters, and local celebrities including CBS4 News anchors Marybel Rodriguez and Jawan Strader who will be waving to the crowd in a vintage vehicle.

The Holiday Parade also features Grand Marshall Jennifer Stone, star of Disney Channel's Wizards of Waverly Place where she plays Selena Gomez's best friend.

Culminating with the arrival of Santa, the Holiday Parade is free and open to the public. The annual parade attracts some 20,000 people every year.

This year, the parade will benefit the United Way Center for Excellence in Early Education.

Following the Parade, the lights of the season will come aglow at The Falls as hundreds of thousands of lights that showcase giant animal topiaries and elaborate water elements will illuminate the shopping center's gardens and waterfalls.

Santa also will take up residence and be available for photos in Center Court at the Santa House, which will remain open until early January through Three Kings Day.

The parade route, which is located on the Boulevard between the center and the parking lot, will start at the east end of The Falls in front of Bloomingdale's and traverse the entire length of the center, west to Macy's.

Spectators are asked to arrive early and line both sides of the parade route.

The Falls is located at 8888 SW 136 Street.
