Thief Steals Purse At Pompano Beach Daycare Parking Lot

POMPANO BEACH (CBS4)- Police are asking for the public's help in finding a man who they said robbed a woman who left her purse in her vehicle at a South Florida daycare center.

On October 18, surveillance video shows that the man's car was first parked in the lot.  A woman then drives into the parking space next to the man's vehicle at her child's daycare, Kidz Time, located at 1512 E. Atlantic Boulevard. She puts her umbrella up, takes the toddler out of the car and walks inside to drop him off.

According to police, a man in the next car watches the mother and son walk away. He looks around to make sure no one's watching and then smashes her window. In a matter of seconds, he grabs her purse and leaves the parking lot.

Surveillance cameras captured the car burglary and the grey Ford Edge the man was driving.

Detectives said there have been multiple cases in Pompano Beach lately where thieves are robbing cars in the parking lots of parks, gyms and daycares.

Police said several witnesses saw the man driving the grey Ford Edge.
