One Hurt In Deputy-Involved Shooting In Pompano Beach

POMPANO BEACH (CBSMiami) - The Broward Sheriff's Office is investigating an incident in Pompano Beach where one of their deputies was forced to use their weapon to shoot a suspect.

Broward Sheriff's Office spokesperson Jim Leljedal said a deputy was working an undercover drug bust at 357 W. Atlantic Boulevard and attempted to buy drugs from the suspect.

Leljedal says the suspect noticed other officers moving in on the scene and attempted to hit the deputy with his car.

The deputy then opened fire, striking the suspect in the arm.The deputy was not injured.

The suspect was transported to North Broward Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
