Dade, Broward Counties Offer Discount Drugs To S. Fla Residents

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Miami-Dade and Broward residents without health insurance are being offered a hopeful alternative - and it's free.

As part of a $400 million dollar program the counties are offering residents free Prescription Discount Cards which will offer an average 24 percent savings on prescription drugs.The program includes 1,400 counties in partnership with the National Association of Counties.

According to CBS4 news partner, The Miami Herald,the cards are being provided by CVS Caremark and are  accepted in 9 out of 10 pharmacies within those two counties.

Discounts can be used by all residents regardless of their age, income and health coverage status. They are also good for people whose medications are not covered by their insurance.

Cards can be picked up at the county commission offices and library branches or can be printed from home if you click here.
