Fin Fans Give Blood, Get Free Tickets

MIAMI (CBS4) – Hundreds of Miami Dolphins fans stopped by Sun Life Stadium on Tuesday to give a blood for a good cause.

The team's third annual "Touchdown for Life" blood drive at the stadium will be going on until 7 p.m.  The first 1,750 registered participants will receive a free ticket to watch the Dolphins take on the Buffalo Bills game on Nov. 30.

"A football ticket, that would be like awesome," said donor Koiama Fontanez, "So this is like the best experience ever."

For Fins fan William Howell the free ticket and helping out the team is a real incentive; this is the third year he's come down from Palm Beach County to give blood.

"It's so I can get the free ticket to do the Dolphins game," said Howell.

All donors will also get the opportunity to meet players, cheerleaders, and alumni as well as get autographs and a free Touchdown for Life t-shirt.

Nicholas Portuondo said he came out to support the team and help out a good cause.

"I got a little light headed after donating, but you know, it's anything to save a life."

"We invite all Dolphins fans who are able to donate blood to join us in helping save lives right here in our backyard," said Mike Dee, Dolphins' CEO. "There's always a need for blood in our community so we urge everyone who is able to donate to come out and give alongside us."

Considered the largest single-day blood drive in the State of Florida, the Dolphins and Florida's Blood Centers hope to break the last year's records of 1,565 pints of blood.
