Report: Material Girl May Play Super Bowl Halftime Show

MIAMI (CBS4) -- The Material Girl may be in for a super performance.

The website sbnation.com reports Madonna is in talks to perform at the halftime show of Super Bowl XLVI on Feb. 5, 2012, in Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

Madonna had been rumored to perform in two previous Super Bowls, including Miami's 1998 game, and again in 2000, but the deals did not come through.

Madge, often considered one of the world's most controversial pop stars, would be the first solo female entertainer to perform at the event since Janet Jackson's so-called wardrobe malfunction in 2004 with Justin Timberlake.

Other halftime acts since then have included Paul McCartney, Prince, The Rolling Stones, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Bruce Springsteen, The Who, and last year featured the Black Eyed Peas, Usher and Slash.
