Cutting Corners On A Swanky Haircut At Gables Salon
CORAL GABLES (CBS4) - A student-teacher atmosphere can save you big bucks while getting one of life's basic necessities – a haircut.
If you get one at a high end salon, it could cost a lot of money, but not anymore.
An hour in a chair at a high end salon can go for a hundred bucks, but at Miller's Studio in Coral Gables, it goes for a lot less.
"Not only is it half price, but you are coming to a high end salon you are getting that great experience," said Intern Stylist Carlos Costa.
A hair cut at half price is what you'll get at Miller's, but on one condition, you let an intern style your locks.
You can get a $95 dollar haircut for $45 dollars.
"I am so thankful that I get to be in this internship program and get to work beside these great people," said Costa.
The interns at the salon are out of school and hope to make the cut. Teaching the team is Dee Adames, a professional stylist working at the salon.
"It is important to teach the right and correct way, create good habits and make sure you have a creative environment and a fun environment also to learn and grow," said Adames.
So how do the clients feel about it the idea?
"I like it. It is a good opportunity for me… and him," said one of the clients.
Not to worry, the stylists are supervised every step of the way by professionals.
"We over see the hair cut and make sure it is fine tuned before they leave," said Adames.
