Tropical Storm Ophelia Forms In Central Atlantic

MIAMI (CBS4) -  National Hurricane Center forecasters are monitoring  Tropical Storm Ophelia which formed late Tuesday night.

As of 11 p.m., the storm was located in the central Atlantic ocean, about 1585 miles east-southeast of the northern Leeward Islands. The storm has maximum sustained winds of 40 miles per hour.

TS Ophelia is moving toward the west at 9 mph and is not affecting land at this time.

Forecasters expect Ophelia to strengthen over the next day or so.
