Cooper City Children Pulled From Pool Die From Injuries

COOPER CITY (CBS4) – Two Cooper City children who fell into a backyard pool eight days ago have died from their injuries.

Shortly before 10:00 a.m. on September 9th, Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue units were sent to a home at 10721 London St. after 2-year-old Kane Walter and 1-year-old Rhyle Rodriguez both fell into the family pool.

When fire rescue arrived, neither child reportedly had a pulse.  Paramedics were able to revive them, but their conditions did not improve while in critical condition at the Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital in Hollywood.

Kane Walter died on September 16, Rhyle Rodriguez died the following day.

BSO homicide detectives and the Special Victim's Unit are conducting an investigation into the circumstances of the double drowning. The grandmother of Kane Walter was babysitting both children at the time.

It is unknown how long the children were underwater.
