Police ID Man Gunned Down In North Miami Beach Street

NORTH MIAMI BEACH (CBS4) – Miami-Dade Police have released the name of the man who was shot and killed in the middle of a busy South Florida road.

Octavio Marquez, 56, was gunned down Wednesday after he got into an argument with another man inside a T-Mobile phone store in the area of NE 163rd Street and 12th Avenue.

According to Miami-Dade Police Detective Roy Rutland, as the dispute moved outside, Marquez got in his car and pulled out of the parking lot. The suspect followed him and opened fire while Marquez was in his car in the westbound lanes of NE 163rd Street. Marquez was pronounced dead in his car in the middle of the street.

The gunman reportedly fled on foot.

Rutland said a gun was found next to Marquez's body but it was unclear if it belonged to him or the suspect.

Detectives are currently reviewing surveillance footage in an attempt to identify the suspect.
