Uncle Luke's Coaching Future Still Undetermined

MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – Should former 2 Live Crew frontman Luther Campbell be allowed to be certified to coach high school football? That's the question before the Florida Division of Administrative Hearings.

Campbell applied for state certification last year, but was denied the certificate due to 1980's firearms-related charges and a 2003 plea deal that stemmed from a lewd performance in South Carolina.

Campbell though decided to fight back, which threw the issue in front of a judge in the Division of Administration Hearings to render a recommendation on Campbell's fate, according to the News Service of Florida.

Miami-Dade County gave Campbell temporary approval to work as an assistant coach, which he's done for the last two years at Miami Central High School and Miami Northwestern High School.

If Campbell is certified, he'd only be a coach and wouldn't be teaching classes, according to the NSF.

After the administrative judge hears the case, he will issue a "recommended order." Then, the state's Education Practices Commission will make a final decision, according to the NSF. There's no timetable on when a decision may be made.
