Miami Man Sought For Questioning In Pair Of Sexual Attacks

MIAMI (CBS4) - Miami Police officers are asking for the public's help in locating a man they say is responsible for two cases of armed sexual battery.

Police say Kevin Puritan Outten, 29, is wanted for the attacks on women that occurred just weeks apart. He is considered to be armed and dangerous.

In the first case on August 12, 2011, police say the victim was walking home on the 1000 block of NW 61st Street at around 7:00 a.m. when a man grabbed her and pulled her into an abandoned house. There, police say, the victim was sexually assaulted and beaten over the head multiple times.

The woman was able to make an escape, but the suspect caught up with her and kicked her in the head until she screamed for help. The suspect fled, leaving the woman on the floor unconscious. She was later found by a passerby and taken to the hospital.

In the second case, which occurred on September 6th, 2011 at around 2:30 a.m., the woman was approached by the suspect on the 5900 block of  NW 12 Avenue. The suspect reportedly asked if he could walk with the victim and when she refused, he picked her up and carried her into a nearby abandoned house. In the house, the police say, the suspect repeatedly raped her at knifepoint. The woman was cut on her arm during the assault. Police say the woman contacted them after successfully fleeing.

Police believe Outten is the suspect in both violent attacks.

Anyone with information about Kevin Puritan Outten, Jr. or his whereabouts is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
