Miami Lakes Woman Accused Of Million Dollar Medicaid Fraud

MIAMI (CBS4) – A Miami Lakes woman has been charged with defrauding Florida's Medicaid program out of more than a million dollars.

Ruth Reveron, 49, owner of T & R Rehab and Diagnostic Center, Inc., was reportedly using therapists' provider numbers to forge patients' evaluations and progress notes, according to the Attorney General's Medical Fraud Unit. Reveron then allegedly filed these fraudulent claims with Medicaid.

A review of patient records and other documents by the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit revealed that between September 2006 and December 2009, T & R was paid more than $1.1 million by the state's Health Care Administration for these fraudulent claims.

"My office will continue to crack down on those defrauding the Medicaid program in order to protect taxpayers and citizens in need of health care assistance," said state Attorney General Pam Bondi in a written statement.

Reveron is charged with Medicaid fraud and grand theft, both first-degree felonies. If convicted, she faces up to 60 years in prison and more than $5 million in fines.
