Police Arrest Alleged SoBe Club Rapist

MIAMI – (CBSMiami.com) – A 25-year-old woman dancing at a Miami Beach nightclub told police that the last thing she remembers was that she set her drink on the bar  and went to dance.

She said what she remembers next was waking up naked in a motel room with her credit and debit cards missing. She also reported being sexually assaulted.

The incident occurred on March 26, 2011. Five months later, police arrested her alleged rapist after a tip was phoned in to police.

Police say Jesus Sardinas, a 34-year-old laborer, had been using her credit and debit cards at various locations along Coral Way.

Now, Sardinas is behind bars facing the following charges: sexual battery, kidnapping and fraudulent use of a credit card.

Police say they also obtained surveillance video from the motel where the woman awoke at La Fuente Motel, 7470 SW 8th Street.

It allegedly shows Sardinas carrying the woman out of the cargo compartment from his SUV and the woman yelling, "No, no, I don't want to do it."

The woman later was treated at the rape treatment center where DNA evidence was collected.

Sardinas who was under suspicion for this crime was stopped for a traffic infraction. He discarded a cigarette butt during the stop and that cigarette was collected and impounded for analysis.

The results revealed Sardinas' DNA matched the DNA found on the sexual assault victim.

After Sardinas was arrested, he told police he had engaged in consensual sex with the victim.

Sardinas faced a bond court judge Sunday who ordered him held no bond until his case goes to trial. His next court date is September 2nd, 2011.
