Miami-Dade's Kendall District Police Squad Under Investigation

KENDALL (CBS4) – As many as half a dozen Miami-Dade police officers from the Kendall District station have been suspended with pay in the midst of an internal affairs investigation.

According to CBS4 News partner The Miami Herald, the investigation involves five to six officers and a sergeant, who have all been put on suspension with pay for at least a month.

The Miami Herald reports Miami-Dade police had little else to say about the recent suspensions.

Maj. James O'Donnell, who heads the Kendall station, told the Herald, "they are under investigation for actions conducted while on their work schedule. Once the investigation is complete, appropriate action will be taken, if necessary." Although police internal affairs investigations of individual officers are not uncommon with an agency as large as the Miami-Dade Police Department, a probe of an entire squad is unusual.
