Police Name Possible Suspect In Miami Drive-By Shooting

MIAMI (CBS4) – A Probable Cause for Arrest order has been issued for a Miami man in connection with a drive-by shooting outside a downtown night club early Monday morning which injured four people.

When taken into custody, 24-year old Alfonso Donnell Artis will most likely be charged with four counts of attempted murder.

The shooting happened just after 3 a.m. in front of a club called 90 Degrees at NE 1st Avenue and 11th Street.

"We know there was a dispute inside the club moments before this shooting occurred outside," said Miami police spokesman DEt. William Moreno. "We still don't know if there was any relationship between that and the shooting outside."

Moreno said there were two men in the dark-colored vehicle which drove by and opened fire on the crowd.

Three of the wounded victims were rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. One victim was treated and released. The others were shot in the foot and hand, according to police.

"What we do not know is were they the intended targets or were they innocent bystanders," said Moreno. "That's why we need the community's help."

One woman who was inside the club at the time of the shooting said she was terrified.

"I was very scared," said Yasmari Suarez. "My heart was pounding and I couldn't make it to the door. There were six shots and I had to just go."

"I heard the shots one right after the other," Suarez said.

Miami police are asking anyone with information on the shooting to call them or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS (8477).
