Four People Injured In Miami Club Shooting

MIAMI (CBS4) - Miami Police are asking for the public's help after four people were wounded in a drive-by shooting early Monday at a downtown club.

"We've had kids and innocent bystanders and babies being hurt and wounded and even killed in drive-by shootings," said Detective William Moreno. "We need the public's help. We need people to come forward. We need them to come out and help. So often we have seen innocent bystanders being shot."

It happened just after 3 a.m. at a club called 90 degrees at NE 1st Avenue and 11th Street.

"We know there was a dispute inside the club moments before this shooting occurred outside," said Moreno. "We still don't know if there was any relationship between that and the shooting outside."

Moreno told CBS4's Peter D'Oench that suddenly, two shooters in a dark-colored vehicle drove by and opened fire on the crowd.

Three of the wounded victims were rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. One victim was treated and released. The others were shot in the foot and hand, according to police.

"What we do not know is were they the intended targets or were they innocent bystanders," said Moreno. "That's why we need the community's help."

He said there were no suspects and no good description of the men who got away.

Miami Police spokesman Delrish Moss said it was not clear if there was any surveillance recordings of the shooting; the club does have surveillance cameras.

D'Oench tried to get a comment from Club 90 degrees, but no one was at the club when he knocked on the doors. And calls to the club were not returned.

One woman who was inside the club at the time of the shooting said she was terrified.

"I was very scared," said Yasmari Suarez. "My heart was pounding and I couldn't make it to the door. There were six shots and I had to just go."

"I heard the shots one right after the other," Suarez said.

Moreno said the victims were not being identified at this point as detectives had not been able to thoroughly interview them.

Miami police are asking anyone with information on the shooting to call them or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS (8477).
