Emily Falls Apart, S. Fla. May Get Wet Weekend

MIAMI (CBS4) -- The remnants of tropical storm Emily continue to move toward the southern Bahamas.

The system, which had South Florida on edge for the past three days, dissipated into a large blob of low pressure when it was in the Caribbean about 100 miles southwest of Cuba on Thursday afternoon.

At this time there is no sign of re-generation but the environment is favorable for redevelopment, according to CBS4 Meteorologist Craig Setzer.

Forecasters monitor remnants closely as they do any strong tropical wave, and watch carefully for any organized thunderstorm development.

If that occurs, and a low level center reforms, advisories would be restarted on Emily.

As far as South Florida is concerned, there is only about 24-hours before the remnant circulation will have moved passed us at which time we wouldn't be affected by a rebirth of Emily.

Regardless of redevelopment, deeper tropical moisture will spread into South Florida over the weekend increasing our rain chances.
