Woman Dead, Man Injured In West Miami-Dade Shooting

WEST MIAMI-DADE (CBS4) - A double shooting in a West Miami-Dade apartment Tuesday afternoon left a husband and wife dead, and another man injured.

According to Miami-Dade police. 28-year-old, Lauira Quintanilla Gonzalez, was shot and killed by her husband, Miguel Trujillo Garcia, 32, at her apartment complex near the intersection of SW 114 Avenue and Flagler Street. He then shot at another man before turning the gun on himself.

"He shot her twice, she yelled out 'you killed me' in Spanish," said Robert Alvarez, a locksmith from Elio's Locksmith who witnessed the crime.

Friends say the couple was separated but Garcia wanted to reconcile; in fact, he went by Gonzalez's home the night before. During his visit the couple got into an altercation and police say he slapped her. Garcia filed a police report but refused to press charges.

Police say Gonzalez spent the last few hours of her life terrified of her husband, and was trying to change the locks to her apartment when she lost her life. Surveillance cameras at Elio's locksmith captured Gonzalez as she scurried to find a locksmith.

"She looked agitated, she was in a bit of a hurry; there was a bruise on her face," said Lilly Alvarez a locksmith from Elio's Locksmith.

Just two short hours after her trip to Elio's Locksmith, police say Gonzalez, the mother of a 5-year-old, was gunned down.

Police are not sure what set the husband off, but when he showed up again the locksmith was changing the locks and Garcia opened fire. The Locksmith told his boss what he had heard.

Garcia then got into his car in search of the new man in his wife's life, Osbel Cabrera, police say. He caught up with Cabrera on SW Coral Way and crashed into his car then shot him twice.

He then got back into his car, finally stopping near 129th Ave and SW 42nd Rd where he took his own life.
