Miami Meat Company Recalling 6K Pounds Of Beef

MIAMI (CBS4) - A Miami-based Meat processing company is recalling more than 6,250 pounds of frozen boneless beef products imported from Honduras due to contamination concerns.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service said the products from Northwestern Meat, Inc may contain the animal drug Ivermectin, a broad spectrum anti-parasitic. Officials say it is used as a de-worming agent in live animals.

The affected meat is packaged in 60-pound cases labeled "C&D" with a package code of "LOT. N60 146-11 A" or "LOT. N60 146-11 B" and a processing date of "26.05.11" all shown on the box label.

The possible contamination was discovered through routine inspection and sampling of beef muscle tissue by the FSIS. The products included in the recall were produced on May 26, 2011 and shipped to processors in Florida and Illinois.

No illnesses or adverse reactions have been reported.
