FIU Hires Rick Sanchez To Be Voice Of Football Team

MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – When you tune into FIU's football games this fall, you'll no longer hear CBS4's Jorge Sedano calling the plays. That's because FIU has hired Rick Sanchez to be their new voice for football games.

Yes, that Rick Sanchez.

Jon Stewart of the Daily Show must not have been available.

"I had a blast calling FIU games," Sedano tweeted. "I'm looking fwd to continuing my weekend gig at CBS4. Especially w/ Fins preseason gms coming up on CBS4."

Sedano said that he's not upset about the change and that in reality; his CBS4 responsibilities would have proven to be a conflict anyway. Plus, he found it a bit funny to be replaced by Rick Sanchez.

"I do have to be honest. I did LOL when I heard about the Rick Sanchez news. I mean come on? That's hysterical. No?" Sedano tweeted.

Sanchez's last major media job was with CNN and ended with him getting fired for calling Jon Stewart a bigot, saying Jews run the media, and for saying Jews are not an oppressed minority on a radio show.

"Yeah, very powerless people. [laughs] He's such a minority. I mean, you know, please. What—are you kidding? I'm telling you that everybody who runs CNN is a lot like Stewart, and a lot of people who run all the other networks are a lot like Stewart. And to imply that somehow they, the people in this country who are Jewish, are an oppressed minority?," Sanchez said in 2010.

Sanchez has a history in Miami including multiple stints at local television stations.
