Murdered Coral Springs Man's Family Ask For Help In Finding Killer

CORAL SPRINGS (CBS4) – The family of a Coral Springs man whose body was found in his apartment over the weekend are asking for the public for help in solving his murder.

"I need to know who did this to my son," said the mother of 31-year-old Michael Hamilton, Cathy Green. "My son didn't deserve this. He lost his way, but we always hoped to get him back."

Officers were sent to Hamilton's apartment in the 9800 block of NW 33rd Street just after 1 a.m. Sunday after they received a call. Inside they found Hamilton's body.

Crime scene investigators spent most of the day inside the apartment and looking for clues in the surrounding area.  Hamilton's neighbors said they were stunned by the news.

"It's a very quiet neighborhood, all the neighbors are good neighbors and everyone goes to church together," said Barbara Maggiore at the time.

"He had a lot of friends and I know someone out there know something about what happened," said Hamilton's father, Mark Hamilton.

Michael's stepfather, Gerry Green, has dealt with murder for years, but never this close to home.

"I've been a homicide detective all my life, and this is the first time I've had to deal personally with the murder of a young person," Gerry said.

On Tuesday police said Hamilton suffered a number of injuries from "a cutting instrument." Investigators suspect who ever killed Hamilton may have been cut too.

Anyone with information that may assist detectives is urged to contact Detective Brian Koenig at (954) 346-1229 or Broward Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS(8477).
