Police Hunt For 3 Men Caught On Camera In Home Robbery

SOUTHWEST RANCHES (CBS4)-Police are looking for three men who they say are caught on surveillance video in connection with a home robbery in Southwest Ranches early Friday morning.

The Broward Sheriff's Office said two armed men wearing masks and gloves slinked through the back patio and tried to break into an upscale Southwest Ranches home on the 6900 block of S.W. 127th Avenue in Southwest Ranches

The men were seen on the tape walking around in the backyard, around the pool and looking through the windows.

"They did everything possible to break into the house, they got on the ledge, looked through the windows, tried every possible way to break in at that moment," the homeowner told CBS4's Gio Benitez.

The homeowner did not want to be identified for this story.

While the men were in the backyard, police say an accomplice in a black Cadillac Escalade EXT drove up to the front gate of the home and appeared on video to press the intercom button, possibly to cause a distraction or determine if anyone was inside. He was not wearing gloves or a mask.

After a burglar alarm was set off the met took off, police said.

But the men returned to finish the job. A few hours later, at 2:27 a.m. Friday, the same men returned to the house successfully broke in, stealing jewelry and cash.

The homeowner was not home at the time of the robbery.

"I was on vacation. If someone would've been home and disarmed the alarm, they probably would have killed somebody in the house," said the homeowner.

According to Broward Sheriff's Office detectives, the three men are Spanish-speakers.

Another vehicle, a light-blue Hyundai Genesis, seen driving by the house, may also be involved in the crime.

The two men who sneaked through the back were described at Hispanic males with muscular builds. On of the men was wearing a police badge around his neck and has a tattoo on his right bicep.

The man who came out of the Escalade is described as Hispanic, wearing a long sleeve, dark dress shirt and blue jeans.

The Escalade has custom-made, black and silver rims and a distinctive running board that extends when the doors are opened.

"They took jewelry and money, that's replaceable, but when I saw the fact that they brought guns, that's when I had a minor nervous breakdown," said the homeowner.
