Marlins Look For Two-In-A-Row Against Angels

MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – Based on the celebration by some Florida Marlins fans Tuesday night, you'd think the team won the World Series. Instead, it was just the second victory in the month for the Marlins who look to win two-in-a-row Wednesday night against the Los Angeles Angels.

The Marlins snapped their 11-game losing streak Tuesday with a 5-2 victory over the Angels. The five runs was an offensive explosion for a team that's been having trouble hitting anything but air during the losing streak.

It all goes back to bringing in the cagey, old veteran Jack McKeon to manage the team. McKeon doesn't care if he gets fired and can manage the team without fear. He made an immediate impact by benching star shortstop Hanley Ramirez Monday night.

But, his tough love came out Tuesday when he reinserted Ramirez into the lineup. Getting the most out of Ramirez for the rest of the year will be one of the keys to seeing if the Marlins can climb out of the NL East cellar.

The other key will be getting ace pitcher Josh Johnson back off the disabled list. News about Johnson's recovery has been tough to find, but the last reports put him around a month away from coming back to the rotation.

The Marlins will face Joel Piñiero Wednesday night. If the Marlins can win their second-straight game, it will give the team its first series win since the Fish swept the San Francisco Giants near the end of May.

The Marlins will be off on Thursday before heading out to the West Coast for a road trip against the Mariners and A's.
