DAVIE (CBS4) - Gold painted shovels in hand, the Mormons broke ground for their new temple in Davie on Saturday.
The temple, which will be located on the northeast corner of I-75 and Griffin Road, is expected to be completed in two years and serve about 25 thousand followers.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints temples differ from ordinary Mormon chapels. They are considered houses of God and are used for occasions like weddings and baptisms
This is only the second Mormon temple to be built in the state, the first is in Orlando.
