President Obama In Puerto Rico After Miami Stop

MIAMI (CBS4) - President Barack Obama landed in Puerto Rico Tuesday after leaving South Florida in the morning aboard Air Force One after a quick fund raising trip.

At 9:30 a.m. President Obama took off for Puerto Rico. He will be the first president to visit Puerto Rico since President John F. Kennedy in 1961.

On Monday, Mr. Obama attended three different campaign fundraisers. His first stop was at a $10,000-per-person reception at the home of former Samsonite CEO Steven Green and wife Dorothea. Green was President Bill Clinton's ambassador to Singapore.

The biggest event, the "Obama Victory Fund 2012 Kickoff Reception" was held at the Adrienne Arsht Center in Miami where Mr. Obama focused his speech on job creation.

"We lost four million jobs in the six months before I was sworn in and we lost another four before any of our economic initiatives had a chance to take effect," said President Obama.

President Obama's Miami trip comes on the heels of a trip to North Carolina where he spoke to his Jobs Council. At the Arsht Center event, he spoke about the letters he received at the White House.

"I will tell you these really are representative because about half of them call me an idiot," said Mr. Obama.

President Obama also told the attendees that there is more work to be done.

"I never said this was going to be easy. This is a democracy," said Mr. Obama.

Mr. Obama also attended a dinner at the Miami home of Dr. J.P. and Maggie Austin. A check for $35,800 would have gotten you a seat.
