1-Year-Old Girl Suffers Severe Burns; Police Arrest Mom

MIAMI - (CBS4) - A deaf Miami mother is facing aggravated child abuse charges after her 1-year-old child was found with severe burn marks all over her body.

Police arrested the child's mother Kamesha Seymour, 20, after being questioned in sign language to explain the child's injuries.

Miami police said she could not "provide an explanation." The child was in her care at the time of the incident, Miami police said in a report.

Police were called after a Miami Fire Rescue ambulance took the child to Jackson Memorial Hospital at 6 a.m. Thursday from her home on the 7800 block of NE 2nd Ave. to be treated for severe burns. An officer interviewed a doctor who said the child's injuries are evidence of abuse.

Seymour appeared before a bond court judge Friday morning. The judge set her bond at $50,000.
