Plenty Of Great Gifts Out There For Dad

MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – A tie used to be a reliable gift for Father's Day, but when a tie just won't cut it; you need to think outside the box for other options to personalize the day without breaking the bank.

"It should be easy and relaxed," said Jenny Isenman, a south Florida mom who founded the blog www.suburbanjungle.com.

Isenman found from the readers on her blog that the best kinds of presents are the ones that require a little effort but not a lot of money. For example, if you want to give a traditional wallet, just add a little something to it by filling it with gift cards that you know dad will love.

"Anyone can get a wallet but now you have put his favorite places in there," said Isenman.

Or, if you are buying an MP3 music player then make sure to load it up with his favorite songs.

"Songs that mean something like your song. It's like a mix-tape," Isenman told CBS4's Jorge Estevez.

Isenman also pointed out some father's day no-no's:

1. Don't over plan the day.
2. Don't expect an exaggerated reaction.
3. Don't give up on finding the perfect gift.
4. Don't forget to involve the kids.

And remember, the best gift of all could be simply a day off from the grind.

"If dad has got a hobby and something he really needs to do, give him the morning off," said Isenman.
