Gas Prices Drop A Nickel In The Last Week

MIAMI (CBS4) – There's a bit of good news at gas pump – prices have dropped about a nickel in the last week, just in time for the start of the summer driving vacation season.

The American Automobile Association (AAA) reports the price for regular unleaded in Florida has dropped to about $3.69 a gallon on average; down from 3.74 a week ago. Last year at this time, the price for unleaded regular was a buck less at 2.69 a gallon.

In Miami-Dade, drivers have seen the price at the pump slowly drop in the last week. Unleaded regular is averaging $3.81 a gallon; down from $3.85 a week ago. A year ago, the price of unleaded regular in the area averaged $2.76 a gallon.

In Ft. Lauderdale drivers are paying about $3.80 on average for a gallon of regular unleaded compared to $3.84 a gallon a week ago. Last year at this time regular unleaded averaged $2.73 a gallon.

The most expensive area in the state to fill up is Gainesville where regular unleaded is averaging $3.82 a gallon. Tallahassee gas stations have some of the cheapest prices in the state, unleaded regular is averaging $3.61 a gallon.
