NBAPA Files Complaint Against Owners

MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – Miami Heat fans better enjoy the remaining games the team plays in the playoffs because it could be a long time before the NBA takes to the court after June 30. The NBA may be about to go the route of the NFL and get involved in a lengthy lockout.

Tuesday, the NBA Players Association (NBAPA) filed a complaint with the National Labor Relations Board that accused the NBA owners of failing to bargain in good faith.

Specifically, Yahoo! Sports reported that the NBAPA accused the NBA of being "harsh, inflexible and grossly regressive 'takeaway' demands." The NBAPA also said the NBA owners are engaging in a take it or leave it mentality during negotiations.

If this sounds eerily familiar, it's along the same lines as the ongoing NFL lockout which is currently sitting before the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals. In fact, the NBA filed a brief in support of the NFL owners in their current lockout.

The entire action may not go anywhere, but it could set the table for legal action if the NBA seeks to enforce a lockout when the current collective bargaining agreement ends on June 30.
