Soggy Friday Kicks Off Mothers Day Weekend

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -Parts of South Florida received more than 2 inches of rain overnight and into the morning commute, snarling the drive into work while delivering much-needed rain to drought-stricken areas.

Coastal areas, South Miami-Dade, and the Keys saw the most rain. The rainfall left roads slick and caused increase commute times as drivers tried to deal with downpours.

The rain is expected to continue, off and on, through much of the day Friday, with a chance of thunderstorms possible as the day progresses.

All of this comes before the official start of the Florida rainy season, which comes later this month.

After Friday's rain, expect a nice Mother's Day weekend with lots of sun, with just a small chance of showers.
