Godfather Prequel To Be Released

NEW YORK (CBSMiami.com) - The Hachette Book Group hopes to be making an offer you can't refuse.

The company is set to release a prequel to "The Godfather" that will explain exactly how Vito Corleone rose to power in New York during the 1920's and 1930's, according to the New York Times.

The book, titled "The Family Corleone," will be written by award winning writer Ed Falco. It is based on a screenplay put together by the writer of the original "The Godfather" book, Mario Puzo.

While Puzo died in 1999, his estate has given its blessing to the new Godfather book. The original "The Godfather" book was released in 1969 and has sold more than 21 million copies.
