Dolphins Players Head Back To Work
MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) - It wasn't quite business as usual Friday morning at the Miami Dolphins complex in Davie; but it's the closest the league has had since the lockout started last month.
Players were free to report to the facility and have contact with team officials and coaches. One player that was of particular interest to the Dolphins is receiver Brandon Marshall.
Marshall is less than a week removed from being stabbed by his wife with a kitchen knife. Marshall was briefly hospitalized, but is expected to quickly fully recover.
The wide receiver spoke with Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland Thursday night and then visited the team's facility Friday morning.
Marshall was among more than a dozen Dolphins at team headquarters. Other players that showed up included: quarterback Chad Henne; tight end Anthony Fasano; fullback Lousaka Polite; linebacker Channing Crowder; and nose tackle Paul Soliai.
Players were allowed to report after federal judge Susan Nelson refused a request by the NFL to issue a stay on her ruling that ended the lockout.
The opening could be short-lived though. The Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals in St. Louis is considering a motion by the NFL to reinstate the lockout until the order to lift the lockout can be heard on appeal.
