Fins Select Guard Mike Pouncey

MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) - The Miami Dolphins came into the 2011 NFL Draft needing to make a splash on the offensive side of the football.

But instead of drafting a quarterback or skilled position player, the Dolphins selected Florida offensive guard/center Mike Pouncey.

The former Florida Gator is the twin brother of Pittsburgh Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey.

Mike Pouncey stands 6'5" and weighs in north of 300 pounds. He's a classic guard who also played center for the Florida Gators last season.

Pouncey fills an immediate need for the Dolphins in the interior of the offensive line.

The Fins have Jake Long and Vernon Carey as bookend offensive tackles. They also re-signed guard/center Richie Incognito to return to the line.

Incognito will likely fill the center position while Mike Pouncey will be slotted in at either left or right guard.

The Fins are now going to take a long break because they don't come back on the clock again until the third round of the NFL Draft on Friday night.
