Ft. Myers Teen Really Wanted A Car

FORT MYERS (CBS4) - Seventeen-year-old Rachel Anne Hachero really wanted a new car. Her mom said she has Ivy League scholarships, but a sweet ride took precedence so much so that Hachero allegedly used a gun to convince her mom how much she needed the car.

The Fort Myers teen started last Thursday when she called her mom to ask her if she would co-sign for a car, according to the Naples Daily News. The mother refused, and according to police, the teen then threatened to kill her mother.

Rachel Hachero then returned home with a 9 mm handgun. According to the Lee County Sheriff, She then pistol-whipped her mom and pointed the gun at her mom and demanded they go back to the dealership and get the car, a black 2004 Nissan 350z. They purchased the car with the teen keeping the weapon in her purse as her mom signed.

The next day while Rachel was at school, the mother called police and deputies arrested Hachero. According to the Naples News, the gun turned out to be "one of three reported stolen from a Lee County Port Authority employee's home last July.

The teen now faces charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm.
