Coast Guard Rescues 3 People Off John U Lloyd Park

HOLLYWOOD (CBS4) - A day on the water turned into a day 'in' the water for five people in a small boat off Hollywood.

Just before noon on Sunday the U.S. Coast Guard was called in to assist Hollywood Fire in rescuing five people who had gone into the water when the 23 foot boat they were in capsized off John U Lloyd State Park.

According to the boat's owner, one of the engines died and a pair of big waves overturned the boat.

The Coast Guard, which has a station at the park, quickly found the capsized boat and pulled three people from the water. The other two people who were in the boat managed to swim to shore.

While there were no injuries reported, three people were to taken to the station to be checked out as a precaution.
