West Palm Man Gets Life For Killing, Dismembering Roommate
WEST PALM BEACH (CBS4)- A West Palm Beach man was sentenced to life in prison for killing and dismembering his roommate in January 2009.
Daniel Lee Alexander, 41, was sentenced on Wednesday by a Palm Beach County judge. He was convicted in January of second-degree murder with a weapon and abusing a dead body. The jury deadlocked on a first-degree murder charge, which could have meant a possible death sentence.
Alexander testified at his trial that 39-year-old Robert Harrison attacked him with a knife in January 2009, and Harrison died during the struggle. Alexander said he dragged Harrison into a bathtub and sawed him into pieces. He put the body parts into four plastic containers, filled them with concrete and buried them in the woods west of Palm Beach Gardens.
Prosecutors argued that the killing was premeditated.
