Judge Awards Dwyane Wade Custody Of Sons

MIAMI (CBS4) - One of the kings of the hard court has prevailed in another kind of court – a legal one.

A judge has awarded Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade custody of his two sons, ages 9 and 3, ending a long legal fight with his ex-wife Siovaughn.

During the custody proceeding Wade claimed Siohvaughn could not "be considered a fit and proper person" to raise their children. The All-Star said his wife exhibited threatening behavior, had extramarital affairs, used abusive parenting methods and was unwilling to let the 2006 NBA finals MVP see his children.

Wade's children arrived in Miami on Friday. His teammates gave him an ovation when he revealed the news to them in the locker room Saturday; the boys are expected to start at a new school in South Florida on Monday.

Wade tells The Associated Press that "a huge weight is off my back," and that he's beyond relieved that the fight is over.
