Miami Lawyer Offers Free Advice On Love & Life

MIAMI (CBS4) - These days you can find just about anything you need online. Now a new website founded by a South Florida lawyer is offering personal and professional advice on life's problems – for free.

"I think that is pretty much the best way to do it, help people in somewhat bad situations," said Miranda Soto, founder of GavelBabble.net.

Soto knows all about bad situations. Right after the birth of her second child she was diagnosed with a tumor.

"The positioning of the tumor was right over my internal organs and it could get into your internal organs and sometimes be fatal," Soto told CBS4's Jorge Estevez.

Putting on a brave face for her family, Soto survived the surgery and during recovery found her new purpose and created GavelBabble.net. where she uses the skills she's learned in the courtroom to help other people.

"When I put it up, I started getting questions from everyone and everywhere I don't know who these people were," said Soto.

Among those who have sought Soto's advice – Guillermo Diaz from Miami.

"I was in the process of making some changes in life and I kind of needed that perspective," said Diaz who asked Soto for some career advice. "I felt cornered. I did not know if I was where I wanted to be. I didn't know if I wanted to move up or if I wanted to move out."

So why would people go to a perfect stranger for advice about their lives?

"Because they don't know me and there is a certain degree of detachment from my situation," said Diaz.

Diaz said in using the site he got what he needed which was someone to listen, and that is exactly what Soto said is the point for anyone who logs on.

"I look at their problem and I analyze it from a lawyer's prospective but also from somebody's perspective that is living, and living consciously."
