iPad 2 Revealed

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS4) - Apple finally opened the curtain and showed the world the most anticipated tech gadget in the last few months.

Apple unveiled the iPad 2 during a Wednesday afternoon press conference. To no one's surprise, the new iPad will likely further revolutionize the market that Apple has almost completely cornered.

iPad 2 will have dual core processors that are two times faster than the previous iPad. It will have up to nine times faster graphics and will maintain the same battery life as the old iPad.

In addition, the new iPad is 33 percent thinner than the previous iPad and will have video cameras to allow video teleconferencing. Not having cameras was considered the one design flaw of the first iPad.

Apple CEO Steve Jobs, who is on a medical leave of absence, revealed the iPad 2 and said the thickness dropped from 13.4 mm to 8.4 mm.

The new iPad will also be available in either white or black and will be shipped to work on both the Verizon and AT&T networks.

Jobs said they managed to make all the upgrades and still keep the prices the same as the original iPad.

So when can you get your hands on the latest technological marvel from Apple? It turns out not too long. The new iPad will be available on March 11.

Apple also released the newest operating system for the iPhone and the iPad, iOS 4.3. The latest OS will add personal hotspot for the iPhone 4, but an extra charge will likely be required from either AT&T or Verizon.
