Chicken Pies Recalled Amid Egg Allergy Concerns

MIAMI (CBS4) - A California food company is pulling one of their products off of store shelves over fears a common allergen is not properly printed on it's labels.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced Monday that Piccadilly Fine Foods is recalling approximately 775 pounds of its chicken and mushroom pie products because they contain eggs, and do not identify them on the wrapper.

The products included in the recall include 12 pound cases of "Piccadilly Fine Food Chicken and Mushroom Pastie". Each box contains 24 individual packages. Each of those individual packages weigh 8 ounces each and say "Keep Frozen" on the label. The affected products also have the establishment number "P-9216" with lot codes 213-10 through 365-10 and 001-11 through 056-11.

The Chicken and Mushroom Pasties were produced in the Santa Clara, California-based facility between August 1, 2010 and February 25, 2011. The products were shipped to distributors in California, Colorado, Florida, and Texas for further distribution to retail outlets.

The company notes that some products are correctly labeled as having eggs in the ingredients.

The Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service and Piccadilly Fine Foods have not received any reports of adverse reactions due to the food products.
