Heat's Jones Invited To Three-Point Competition

MIAMI (CBS4) - Miami Heat forward James Jones has been chosen by the NBA to take part in the Foot Locker Three-Point Shootout during the 2011 NBA All-Star Saturday Night.

Jones, currently is 14th in the league in three point accuracy, and is the fifth Heat player ever selected to compete in the shootout. He joins the likes Jon Sundvold, Glen Rice, Jason Kapono, and Daequan Cook.

But Jones better bring his A-game. Cook, Kapono, and Rice won the 3-point shootout in 2009, 2007, and 1995 respectively.

Jones is averaging 42.7 percent from three-point range for the season and has hit 91 three-point shots this season.

Jones faces Ray Allen and Paul Pierce of the Celtics, Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder, Daniel Gibson of the Cleveland Cavliers, and Dorrell Wright of the Golden State Warriors.

The 2011 Slam Dunk competition, also set for All-Star Weekend, will feature Blake Griffin of the Clippers, Brandon Jennings of the Milwaukee Bucks, Serge Ibaka of the Oklahoma City Thunder, and JaVale McGee of the Washington Wizards.

Griffin is the odds-on favorite to win the slam dunk contest.
