North Miami Police Seek Help Finding Violent Felon

NORTH MIAMI BEACH (CBS4) -- North Miami Beach Police are asking for help finding a man accused of violent crimes.

They say Carlus McKaufman is wanted for aggravated battery with a firearm, sexual battery, false imprisonment and child endangerment.

Police say McKaufman is armed and dangerous.

McKaufman is accused of attacking his live-in girlfriend on January 18 in their home in the 1500 block of NE 152 Street following an argument.

Police said McKaufman pistol whipped the woman, taped her mouth shut, tied her up with electrical tape and repeatedly raped her while their one-year-old child was nearby.

At one point the unnamed victim was able to escape the home, but was caught by McKaufman and allegedly dragged back inside where she again was raped.

McKaufman apparently left the home the next morning via a taxi cab, and that is when his victim called for help.

Police said McKaufman has a record of armed robbery and murder. He is known to visit the Miami area, but may have left the state and may be headed towards Oklahoma.

If anyone knows the where Carlus McKaufman is, please contact Detective E. Vazquez-Bello or Det. C. Mann of the North Miami Beach Police Department at 305.948.2940 or 305.949.5500.
