WEST PALM BEACH (CBS4) – On the same day two Miami-Dade  police officers were killed attempting to serve a murder warrant on a suspect two Palm Beach county deputies also faced gunfire from a suspect, according to a spokesperson for the department.

PBSO spokesperson Teri Barbera said the suspects in Thursday night’s shooting “clearly knew we were law enforcement.”

The undercover detectives were working on an unrelated robbery case when the two men spotted them working on a laptop inside their vehicle. Barbera said the men followed the officers and fired at least two shots, hitting the windshield of the unmarked vehicle.

The officers did not fire back and were not injured.

Barbera said a vehicle believed to belong to one of the shooters was recovered late Thursday.
