Sports Agenda For Friday (1/7/11)

Big Story:
Well, it looks like it's safe for me to delete the story about Harbaugh being hired. The Dolphins looked more pathetic than Snooki at a Mensa meeting while they tried to land a new coach. In the end, Ross and company came back to South Florida with their tail between their legs after being rejected by any coach who would listen. They should have flown commercial, at least they would have gotten frequent flier miles for the trip.

Dolphins:
As you can tell, I don't think much of the Dolphins brass right now. It's probably one of the most embarrassing days in Dolphins history, well, outside of the Ted Ginn draft. Sparano has no pull anymore, Ireland looked as if he would sell out his mother to keep his job, and Ross ended up looking like a geek in high school who kept getting rejected by the best looking girls.
Sparano at least took the high road and kept his mouth shut. He now has to look for an offensive coordinator who likes a high-flying attack, and determine whether or not Henne is the quarterback of the future for the Fins.

Heat: @ Milwaukee (8:30 p.m., Sun Sports HD)
The Heat hit the road again in pursuit of their 11th straight road victory. The Heat will take on the same Bucks team they beat on Tuesday night, but this time it will be at the Bucks home court. But that's just the beginning if the Heat win.

The Heat are ultimately in pursuit of the 1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers record of 16 wins in a row away from the friendly confines of the American Airlines Arena. The Heat can tie that record, but will have three tough games to get there.

Over the next week, the Heat will play @ Miwaukee, Portland, the Clippers, Denver, and Chicago. The Heat should be able to handle the Bucks and Clippers fairly easily. Portland is struggling, but can still reach up and bite a team in a hurry, still the Heat should be favored. Denver is having an average season, but like the Trail Blazers, can knock off a team that's not on its game.

That leaves the Bulls, who are leading the Central Division in the Eastern Conference. The Bulls will be coming off a stretch of playing Boston, Detroit, Charlotte and Indiana in roughly a week. That should put the Bulls and Heat on the same page. If the Heat win that game, they'll tie the Lakers record. Of course, let's see if they can get their first.

Panthers: vs. Carolina Hurricanes (7:30 p.m. Fox Sports Florida)

Couple of college games on Saturday…all Florida schools play so keep an eye on it.
