Armed Man Holds Up Hialeah Gardens' Bank

HIALEAH GARDENS (CBS4) - Hialeah Gardens Senior High was temporarily placed on 'lock down' Wednesday morning after a gun-toting robber hit a nearby bank.

It happened just after 9:30 a.m. at the Mercantil Commercebank at 11701 West Okeechobee Road. The armed man, who was wearing a dark coat, dark glasses and ski hat, walked into the bank, brandished a gun and demanded to be taken to the vault.

After getting some cash, the armed man ran outside, got into a white or silver Toyota Scion and drove off.

There were no customers in the bank at the time of the robbery and no one was hurt.
